3D Comic book collage art
3D COMIC BOOK COLLAGE ART BY NAZAR R LOUN
Nazar Loun was born in Lviv, Ukraine. He has been an artist and a filmmaker for over 25 years. He expresses through filmmaking, collage, installation art, sculpture, photography, mosaic, logo design, and leather crafting. He graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design with a degree in Film and a minor in sculpture. Nazar started making this new style "3D Comic book collage" as he calls it, in early 2013 for himself. He started after finding an old comic book collection he had from childhood and finding out they were not really rare or valuable but the art in them was mind blowing. So he decided to make his first 3D collage. His friends, liking comic book culture as well, started asking him to make one for them or collage a room for their child. So, since then one by one he has sold over 50 pieces last year You may see some of his work in Doctors offices, Comic book fans collections, "man caves", coffee shoppes and he still loves to make them to this day. All his collages are made with actual comic books. This way they are recycled and preserved becoming new quality art pieces. None of the images are copied or printed out. Every finished piece is an original and one of a kind 3D collage. The materials, like the action figures, comic books, etc are either donated to Nazar or he searched for them himself depending on the need of any particular collage. Rare comic books are never used for collages those are preserved and protected for future generations.
Nazar Loun says:
"I personally love the art in comic books but when were done reading them, we close them and sort of forget. Who knows when again we will look at them again. This way I figured, why not bring these works of art out of the pages and give them a unique, original clean appeal that can be enjoyed by the fan of the subject matter in the collage relief . I do not mindlessly slap paper around on a surface I chose a character that I like by artist or artists whose art I prefer and painstakingly search in comic book stores for the right comic books with the right images for any given piece. Sometimes having that one amazing image that sparks a childhood memory in you every time you see it right there on your wall seemingly jumping out of the comic book pages. Thats a reaction I go for when I make my Collages. I use mixed media and tricks of the trade that I have learned over the years of making art. I mostly do custom orders that way you have the advantage of making the choices of character / characters, eras, styles etc. If you would like to know more check out my website and email me with any questions"
Thank You!
